H.E. Mrs Jeannette Kagame
First Lady of the Republic of Rwanda

Biography

Her Excellency Mrs. Jeannette Kagame is the Founder and Chairperson of Unity Club – Intwararumuri. She embodies the values of unity, transformation, hope and she has played a central role in advancing national reconciliation, promoting ethical leadership, and fostering a culture of peace and social development in Rwanda.

Established in 1996, Unity Club Intwararumuri brings together current and former cabinet members and their spouses, united by a shared commitment to promoting national unity and reconciliation. Founded in the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, Unity Club embraces the vision of bearing the torch to unity serving as a platform for reflection, healing, and nation buildin...

Unity Club plays a vital role in fostering social cohesion, preserving national memory, and contributing to the ongoing work of building peace in Rwanda. Her Excellency also chairs Imbuto Foundation, which grew from a rapid and effective response to the spread of HIV/AIDS in Rwanda during and following the Genocide Against the Tutsi, to a holistic model catering to the entire life cycles of diverse beneficiaries. Her Excellency the First Lady is a founding member of the Organization of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA), which she presided from the years of 2004 to 2006.

She is the patron of the SOS Children’s Village – Rwanda and also sits on the boards of various international organizations catering to the development of Africa.

As a co-founder for one of the top Rwandan Schools, H.E. Mrs. Jeannette Kagame has attested to her dedication to equip young Rwandans with the skills they will require to build the Rwanda a whole nation envisions. Her Excellency the First Lady of Rwanda, Mrs Jeannette Kagame has initiated several projects and played a catalyst role to contribute to the improvement of the lives of the most vulnerable communities.

Award by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts during the 12th Africa Regional Conference of the World Association of Girl Guides held in Nyamata, Bugesera District for her tireless efforts in championing the empowerment of the girl child in Rwanda.
