Who we are
Intwararumuri (Torch bearer)
A person who advocates for a certain cause, with clarity of the intention and benefit of that cause for the people. Someone who is wholeheartedly committed to spearhead and become a catalyst in the transformation towards a specific cause. Someone who leads by example, walks the talk and whose life is exemplary in every aspect of the society and journey of transformation. A person committed to mobilizing and teaching others the essence of unity for Rwandans and the entire human being.
They are role models in every way, one who has overcome stereotypes that limit the Unity of Rwandans including race, ethnicity, origins and foreign languages.
Abarinzi b'Igihango
Abarinzi b'Igihango (Guardians of covenant) are Rwandans and foreigners who are tied to the covenant as well as keeping it safe. They are ordinary people who have shown strong commitment to unity within the Rwandan society.
Impinganzima
This are the hostels put up by Unity Club in collaboration with partners for the elderly widows and widowers, whose families ( spouse, children) had been completely wiped out during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi .Those hostels are known as Impinganzima. As of 2025, there are four Impinganzima located in Huye, Bugesera, Rusizi, and Nyanza Districts.
Intwaza
The widows and widowers whose families had been completely wiped out, leaving them sole survivors or Incike according to the local parlance, namely today called Intwaza. Counting back to 1994, many of these survivors who, sadly, had nobody left to call their own, have also inevitably been aging. Old and living alone was a recipe for more disaster for this vulnerable group of people.
Ndi Umunyarwanda
“Ndi Umunyarwanda” , meaning “I am Rwandan” , is a lifestyle and national initiative launched in 2013. It embodies a sense of connection and unity among Rwandans, promoting pride in being Rwandan, a shared love for the country, a commitment to its protection and a desire to contribute to its development and well-being.
This initiative aims to strengthen Unity, Reconciliation and Resilience among Rwandans by creating platforms for dialogue between the youth and elders, working toward a common goal.
Ndi Umunyarwanda is built upon three key pillars:
- Rwandan Spirit
- Rwandan Values
- Cultural Norms and Taboos – aimed at reinforcing national identity
